The European project EVEREST (dEsign enVironmEnt foR Extreme-Scale big data analytics on heterogeneous platforms), carried by IBM Research GMBH, and in which NUMTECH is a partner, started!
This project has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No 957269.
On October 1, 2020, the kick-off meeting of the European project EVEREST took place (dEsign enVironmEnt foR Extreme-Scale big data analytics on heterogeneous platforms) carried by IBM Research GMBH. Launched for 3 years, EVEREST is funded by the European Union's research and innovation program, Horizon 2020, and brings together ten companies, research organizations and universities. This project, part of the current digital era which sees the world of High Performance Computing (HPC) and the world of High Performance Data Analytics (HPDA) approaching, is linked to the field of Artificial Intelligence. Its purpose is to develop a digital computing environment driven by data algorithms optimized on this environment.
NUMTECH works on the use cases of the project in connection with the management of air quality around industrial sites. For this, it will use its operational decision support tool Plum’Air® dedicated to the management of atmospheric emissions from an industrial site already installed with its customers, which will serve as "test cases".
NUMTECH's mission will be to improve the prediction of the dispersion of releases from meteorology via two levers:
- using a finer deterministic WRF forecast,
- by improving the locally aggregated ensemble forecast.
