The Digital Cleanup Day is a global event, co-sponsored by the Responsible Digital Institute and the World Cleanup Day, which aims to bring together all actors in the territory to clean our data, repair or recycle our digital equipment, to reduce our digital footprint.
The objective is to raise awareness of the growing impact of digital technology and to take concrete action, by encouraging every one of us to participate in one or more operations:
- Digital Cleanup Data: to sort and clean digital data (files, photos, applications, etc.) on our equipment and our clouds.
- Digital Cleanup Reuse: to extend the lifespan of functional digital equipment so that it can be protected, reused, repaired, or donated.
- Digital Cleanup Recycling: to collect and recover end-of-life equipment (treatment and recovery of WEEE: waste electrical and electronic equipment).
The opportunity for NUMTECH to mobilize for Digital Cleanup Reuse and Digital Cleanup Recycling to collect, whether in the office or at home, WEEE, to give them an adequate end of life, as well as telephones, to make a donation to give them a new life.
But why worry about all this?
If digital technology is the source of great progress, its acceleration is worrying for the environment. Digital technology is responsible for 4% of global greenhouse gas emissions today, and it is estimated that by 2025 this digital pollution will double! Impacts must be considered at all stages of the life cycle of digital equipment (from its manufacture above all, to its end of life including its use).
