Air quality and environmental footprint: an integrated approach for a sustainable future

In response to the ecological emergency, NUMTECH is taking action by combining air quality modeling with environmental footprint reduction, two complementary levers driving a more sustainable future.

As the ecological transition becomes an urgent priority for businesses, local authorities, and citizens, our company is fully committed to combining scientific expertise with practical action. At the heart of our strategy lie two interconnected focus areas: monitoring air quality and improving environmental performance.

Far from being separate, these two domains are deeply interlinked and mutually reinforcing.

Air quality modeling: a tool for understanding and anticipating

With a strong foundation in air quality modeling, NUMTECH designs and deploys advanced simulation tools to assess atmospheric pollutant concentrations across various scales: local, urban, and regional. Based on meteorological, topographical, and emission data, these simulations help:

  • Identify major pollution sources (road traffic, industry, heating, etc.),
  • Evaluate the environmental and health impacts of human activities,
  • Simulate development or transition scenarios (e.g. emission reduction plans).

This detailed, localized, and dynamic insight is a vital decision-making tool, supporting public policy and business strategies geared toward more sustainable choices. It also enables effective planning aligned with air quality regulations.

Environmental footprint modeling: a broader perspective

Air quality is one of the most visible and measurable expressions of our environmental impact. Airborne pollutants, from transport, industry, or heating, stem from broader activities that exert pressure on ecosystems and the climate.

That’s why NUMTECH is expanding its approach to include more holistic assessment tools, enabling us to evaluate the full range of environmental impacts from a given activity.

This includes conducting carbon footprint assessments (Bilan Carbone®) to measure greenhouse gas emissions at the organizational level and performing Life Cycle Assessments (LCA) to evaluate a product’s or service’s environmental impacts throughout its entire life cycle. These assessments consider multiple criteria: climate change, water use, resource and energy consumption, air pollution, and more.
